Scientifically shown to help with hayfever
A course of therapy with Butterbur petasin extract has been scientifically proven to be beneficial in the alleviation of hayfever symptoms.
Butterbur comes from the Asteraceae family, and is a fleshy, creeping plant with a short root.
Extracts from the leaves and roots have been used, since ancient Greek times, as an anti-inflammatory, a smooth muscle relaxant (anti-spasmodic) and pain reliever (analgesic).
These traditional uses are supported by modern science.
Butterbur petasin‘s main active ingredients are petasin and isopetasin, with the highest concentrations occurring in the root.
Research published in the British Medical Journal has shown that Butterbur
has similar effects to over-the-counter antihistamines, and does not cause any
drowsiness. Trials have also found it useful for relieving migraines.
Recommended Dosage
Take 1 Butterbur Petasin capsule 3 times daily with meals for the first month then 1 capsule twice daily thereafter.
Each capsule contains:
Extract of petasites hybridus 50mg (butterbur root) standardised for at least 7.5mg of petasin and isopetasin.
Other ingredients: riboflavin (natural colouring), glycerol, gelatin, sorbitol, titanium dioxide (colour).
This product contains no detectable levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
Cautions
Do not use if pregnant or breast feeding. Keep out of childrens reach. People with liver disease should not use this product without medical advice. This product is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
